Jo-Ann Mapson

Jo-Ann Mapson is the author of ten books of fiction, including the best-selling novels Hank & Chloe, The Wilder Sisters, and Bad Girl Creek. Blue Rodeo, her second novel, was made into a film for television starring Kris Kristofferson. The Bad Girl Creek trilogy books were BookSense 76 picks. Each of her novels was a featured selection of the Doubleday and Literary Guild book clubs and has been published in Braille, and several are available on audio. Her essays have appeared in anthologies, most recently in How Joyous His Neigh: Stories about Horses, edited by Michael Englund. Her poetry has appeared in The Kenyon Review and included in the anthologies Graining The Mare, edited by Teresa Jordan, New Cowboy Poetry edited by Hal Cannon, and Maverick Western Verse, edited by John Dofflemyer. Her most recent novel is The Owl & Moon Café, from Simon & Schuster. She teaches fiction in the M.F.A. program at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Currently at work on a memoir, she lives in Anchorage with her husband, artist Stewart Allison, and their five dogs.
